Election day

The top headline on every single major US news site right now is something to the effect of, "LONG LINES AT THE POLLS - Voters Wait for Hours to Cast Ballots".  Reading the stories, I half-expected to see a callout quote such as:

"It wasn't worth it", said a thirsty and dispirited voter.

Nice job, mainstream media.  Way to keep people at home.  For what it's worth, my wait to vote was exactly 45 seconds.

Start to finish including parking less than 5 minutes.

I'm in complete agreement - mainstream media does it again...hopefully, people get it.

Apparently my house drifted into a different precinct, so I visited two polling places. The walk from the parking lot to the voting room took longer than any waiting in line.

OTOH, one of the radio shows (NPR, I think) spoke with a college student from Kenyan College—in Ohio—who spent nearly 10 hours in line! The local businesses heard about all the voters, and turned out with pizza, coffee, newspapers, etc. Local musicians turned out to serenade them. I think that would have been a great experience, especially if I were in my early 20's again ...

When I examine large sets of time-series data, the outlying data points stand out more significantly than the “average” points. Outliers make news stories. Rapid, efficient voting doesn't sell many ads.

Lots of white people! You sure this isn't the Sweedish elections? Do they have elections in Sweeden? And why?
